Meditation methods help you concentrate your mind. It can also help you to think less. There are different meditation methods at different times. Here are some of them explained.
First, let’s talk about the primary way to meditate. The most common way is to concentrate on your breath. The trick is to only focus on one thing, in this case, the breath. Since you do breathing for the rest of your life, it is the one thing you can always concentrate on.
Concentrate on your breath, then if you get any thoughts about your past or future, return to focus on your breath again. Everybody gets ideas popping in from time to time. But with practice, you will better produce your focus back to your breath.
Another meditation method is to focus on the thoughts from an outside perspective. You realize you are not your thoughts, but you are the one observing the thoughts. Instead of identifying with the ideas, you keep them neutrally at a distance. The trick here is not to become your thoughts or believe your thoughts but to go back to the observer role instead.
An extension of these methods is not to observe your breath or thoughts but to focus only on the body’s sensations. This method is done by scanning your body and putting awareness on everything you can feel in your body. You can either sit or lay down. Then focus only on how does it feel to sit on your but? How heavily do your toes feel now? What about the muscles in your face? You will be amazed at how many sensations you usually don’t pay attention to.
Through your day method:
This method reviews your day mentally before you sleep. in bed with your eyes closed. You start with the first thing that happens in the morning, namely that you wake up. Then you visualize in your mind’s eye everything that happened to you chronologically that day until you get to bed, imagining your day. Then afterwards – you can go to sleep.
Go through your day backwards:
Here the method is doing the opposite as the above. You start visualizing your day with the latest event. See on your inner mind you go to bed, then play it backwards – See yourself before bed. The method ends with you seeing yourself waking up in the morning.
Focus on the concept of point Consciousness:
First, point Consciousness is that state experiencing only pure Consciousness—people who meditate in the East experience this state. You can sharpen your intentions and focus by focusing only on this concept. Just hold your thoughts about “point Consciousness”. If you focus your preferences long enough on this concept, you will reach it.
Count from 50 to 1:
Counting numbers is another meditation method. Visualize a blackboard in your mind’s eye – here, you write the number 50 on it. Then visualize yourself erasing the number 50 with a sponge and writing the number 49. Say to yourself, or intend, that for each descending number, you feel more and more relaxed in body and mind. The only thing to focus on is the decreasing numbers. This is also a known Self-hypnosis technique.
